Malus 'Royalty'

Upright, rounded canopy with the darkest purple leaves of all flowering crabs. Red-purple blooms in spring followed by small, dark red ornamental fruit which persist into winter. Foliage turns fuscia in fall. Very hardy. Prefers a moist, well-drained soil.

* Great substitute for the less hardy purple leaf plum.
